The climate is Mediterranean along the Adriatic coast, meaning warm dry summers and mild winters, with 2,600 hours of sunlight on average yearly - it is one of the sunniest coastlines in Europe! In the interior of the country, the climate is continental with hot summers and cold, snowy winters.

Around 4 million Croats live in Croatia. The number of Croats living abroad is estimated to be around the same number as in the Croatian homeland. This number is dependant on the criteria by which someone can be regarded as a Croat, because descendants of Croats often don't speak Croatian language.
