“Had one lunch and one dinner there. The menu is pretty extensive, aimed at Egyptian food which was a nice change (just so many Western resteraunts around!). The resteraunt is very well decorated and equipped – i ate in the open air upstairs both times, would not have fancied being in the downsatirs rooms when crowded. Fruit juices are to… more ”

“After reading several reviews of this place my partner and I were very excited about trying Sofra. When we arrived we wern’t greeted in a friendly way, we were just told to go upstairs. but we tried not to let that get to us as the setting of the restaurant was nice. we ordered 2 fresh mango juices which were… more ”

“Sofra has an atmosphere all of its own. The staff are also very friendly, but what makes the place is the food – high quality Egyptian fare that is really taste. If yuou go to only one restaurant in Luxor make it this one. more ”

“The best way to arrive at and leave this restaurant would be by caleche, adding to the Egyptian atmosphere of your evening. This a traditional Egyptian restaurant, the rooftop floor is just like a scene out of Casablanca (yes, I know Casablanca isn’t in Egypt but…..) and you quite expect to see Humphrey Bogart sitting at one of the tables…. more ”

“We visited Sofra three times during our one-week stay in Luxor. Brilliant authentic food well served and all utterly affordable. We could find nothing to criticise. “I have eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. I have had pigeon, baladi salad, hot&cold mezzes, moussaka, kebabs and a couple of the tagines. The fruit juices, especially mango, are excellent and very refreshing. Also had a shisha there. If you want a private table then ask for one of the… more ”

Well worth traveling down the road from the railway station, I would reccomend to anyone looking for a real Egytian food, in… more ”

“Copy of my letter to Sofra… To whom it may concern. I had dinner last week in your restaurant, generally a pleasant experience. I ordered Hamam Mahsi which was ‘ok’ although the pigeon could have had more meat on it to make this a really good dish, I also ordered Betingan Ma’ Aloob, this was an excellent dish. At the… more ”

“Sofra serves excellent and tasty food in an authentic atmosphere. Try to get a table upstairs. If you go there, I would recommend the TAGIN LAHMA BIL KAWERMA (Veal & pearl onions stewed in a spicy tomato sauce with red peppers & garlic) and the BETINGAN MA’ALOOB (Upside-down fried aubergine casserole cooked with rice & beef). That’s what we liked… more ”
